Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery: Patient Information
Oral and maxillofacial surgery is a medical specialty that requires an additional four to seven years of hospital-based, post-graduate training, enabling surgeons to provide solutions to a wide variety of problems relating to the bones and soft tissues throughout the face, neck, and associated facial structures.
Dr. Christopher T. Johnson, D.M.D. is one of few oral and maxillofacial surgeons in the Orlando, Florida area, with expertise in many areas including cosmetic facial surgery, corrective jaw surgery, and pathology. He also provides numerous cosmetic procedures such as lifestyle lifts, and restorative treatments for craniofacial disorders, cleft lips, and palates, as well as for facial injuries, acne, and scars.

First Visit
What to Expect from Your First Visit to Advanced Faces
There is no reason for you to be nervous about your initial visit to Advanced Faces. Your first visit will consist of a consultation and a physical exam. During this exam, you will receive information about your diagnosis and your treatment options.
It is important for Dr. Johnson to get to know your needs, and for you to learn what to expect from your potential treatment plan. If you would like to pursue a cosmetic procedure, a request will be given to your primary care physician to complete the necessary lab tests.
If you are interested in cosmetic or orthognathic (jaw) surgery, a second consultation will be necessary after the results of your lab work have been reviewed. At this time, Dr. Johnson will assess your personal risks and potential benefits and will create a personalized treatment plan to meet your unique needs.
Plastic surgery is a life-changing experience, and it is essential that all of the necessary steps be taken to ensure that you will achieve the best possible results with the shortest recovery time.
What to Bring With You to Your Consultation:
- Your surgical referral documents and applicable X-rays if necessary

- Arrange for an adult (18 years or older) with a valid driver’s license to accompany you to your appointment and stay in the office and drive you home once the surgery is complete.
